Currently in camp. Being a duty clerk is totally boring, like mending a 7-eleven cashier. 24 hours. Worst still, today is a day where its sandwiched between 2 chinese new year holidays and a weekend. So basically there were less than 20 people in camp today. Totally boring, no calls, no mails, no nothing. Just rotting and wasting time. Man, to make things worse, fridays used to be days when we can only book out at 8 or 9pm. But today? My colleagues are going off at 3,4pm, and I have to stay till 8am tomorrow. Totally a sad case. Even the canteen is closed, the cookhouse, which always serves up to 300 soldiers daily only cooked for less than 10 people today. Which also explains the horrific standard of the food I just had. But perhaps its on this quiet day I also got to see a sight which is rather uncommon in camp. The stray dogs in my camp actually roaming in the cookhouse to look for leftovers. I must say these dogs are quite poor things, cos the personnel in the cookhouse always chase them away to prevent them from possibly contaminating the food in the area, but then again, these dogs are really in quite bad shape. When I was having dinner just now, a dog came over beside me and watched me eat. The dog somehow resembles my good old doggy, but it was larger in size. And the look on its eyes really seemed to cry out to me for food. So I just gave him my chicken patty and ham. Well I know dogs can't eat such food, but then really, I am quite sure the leftovers they salvage from rubbish bins are much worse than what I gave it. It really made me want to go home and play with my dog, for it really brings that extra joy to me and my family. To people out there who are considering to get a dog, go ahead. It really brings you joy and happiness. But do remember to take good care of it. Strays are the result of irresponsible dog owners to simply had enough fun with their playthings and just abandon them to fight for their own survival. Love your dog and it will naturally repay you with the priceless moments you and it will share. Hmm.. need to go see what other stuff I can do first.. before having to stay up till tml morning le.
