Been quite busy in school for the past week. Before I continue working on the stuff I need to, there has been a very big distraction which threatens to take away all my concentration away for quite a good time.. LEGO!
Was waiting for Mr Lo at JE for dinner yesterday when I wandered into the Cash Converters store, picking up a retro set of Lego train set, the one that came with a 9V motor and runs with electricity. The kind of things I wanted to badly as a child but the $200+ price tag never managed to convince my parents that it was worthy to splash the money on me. Thinking back, it was a good thing I didn't buy it back then too, since as a child I'd most probably buy and build, then chuck it and one side, and forget all about it after a while.
Well as I was browsing eBay, I saw the first ever lego set my dad bought me.
Yes the 1994 Hot Rod Club set. Although it was not the set I wanted, (since it was not the biggest set, and as a child you'd always want something that's the biggest and has got everything) I didn't really like it initially. But all the dislike went 'poof' the moment I got home and ripped the package apart like the 8 year old boy I was back then. I still remembered buying that set from the toy shop in Bukit Batok near my primary school, it cost my dad $54.90. It was a sunny afternoon and I would always remember that special scent the shop had in it which made me like it so much! Too bad the shop's closed down, and I didn't remember buying from it since that purchase. My dad was never someone to buy me anything I wanted, so I can say that if there was anything I could ever remember my dad buy me, it was this lego set. I had so much fun building the set and I would just play the same thing over and over again for a few weeks. Of course, since then I did buy a few more lego sets, like the fire station and a couple more cars or trucks. It was really all that fun, but too bad I didn't know how to keep my things and I've lost them for good. So I'm hoping to start my own lego collection in the near future, especially when I start earning some good income, and have a unique collection which will really appreciate as the years go by.
For a start, in commemoration of Lego's 50th anniversary, they launched a special collector's set, which is the remake of the 1958 Town Plan! Definitely top of my wants list when it comes to SG next month!
And 3 sets which have been released over the last year as part of the Town series. In my opinion, great amount of detail and effort to make it look as professional as the models architects build to put in showrooms.
Cafe Corner
Green Grocer
Market Street
A look at some of the very nice details.
As well as the grand look of everything!!
This is a really nice collection to have! I'll work towards it after exams! Cannot wait!
