Back in Hall

Week 2 of the new term is mid-way through, and as with every semester, there comes modules which I think I will be extremely intrigued by, and modules I'd be wondering why I even bothered taking them in the first place. Hahaha I hope luck will be on my side as I enter the exam halls taking these papers. There was the first of many networking events at NTU, which saw citibank hosting a rather successful event and a good 500-600 students turned up for the event. As much as the corporate world is enticing and seemingly exciting to work in, I can't help but feel that the selection process of who gets to work for those big names are already pre-determined long ago. While this may not be true, I get the general consensus that without a good degree, or good track record of your leadership qualities, or not being able to show your potential employers how outspoken you might during the interview will probably condemn you to the last time you'd ever hear from them, where work is concerned. I'm really starting to think twice about climbing the corporate ladder, but then again, perspectives do change, and I am only too glad that I am still on track to make conditions favourable for myself. As years go by, you realise that decisions start becoming more important, and truth be told, I felt the choice to work hard in university and to be engaged in my school-related activities have done me much good! Not only have I made some of the best friends since secondary school, the amount of knowledge and things I am exposed to have also been unbelievable.

Speaking of which, I'm also extremely glad that our FOC main comm has been like the best bunch of people I've worked with so far. All the seniors are fantastic, and we even had a flash mob today, doing the Visa commerical dance in school, in front of everyone else who were having lunch in the canteen! Hahaha I doubt I'd do anything this silly with anyone else except this crazy bunch! The video is quite funny too!

Well in other pleasant stuff, as soon as I completed my 3 Lego modular sets and still patiently awaiting September for the 4th set to be released, luck has it that Lego launched the fire bridage here in Singapore during the toys and comics convention held last weekend! I cannot express my delight at the launch, and the relatively affordable price tag that came along with it!

And thanks to the pricing strategies, or rather the use of promotional prices, Lego has enticed me into buying the set which I once dismissed for its price and not-so-fancy looking set (well it wasn't so fancy with the inital pricetag, but after a considerable trimming, the set now looks like its worth every penny!). Presenting the Grand Carousel, complete with motion and sound! The new power functions look like a powerful addition to the Lego line.

I am not going to build these two sets as yet, as I am looking to capture them in greater detail, along with the building process with a new DSLR that is on the way. Hoho, its a spending month but yea I guess I shall not spend further when this month is over.

As mentioned in my earlier post, I've completed building what I always wanted to build, and now they are sitting nicely at home, waiting to be resettled into hall where they would make fine additions to the otherwise dull room. Enjoy some pictures, and I'll update again with new ones with the new camera!
