Well, tomorrow being Teachers' Day, I went back to BP with Paul today in hopes of finding Ms Kong, who wanted me to call her when I saw her in CCK some two months ago. Sadly she wasn't around in school today, and as many other teachers who I didn't get to see =/ Well, the school is still physically quite the same, but having graduated just some 3 years ago, everything feels different already. Now I just hope I might be able to hitch a relief-teaching job come next Jan.

Since leave for the day was taken already, might as well not waste it. So we went to Comex at Expo, which is so freaking far, to check out some stuff on offer. Unlike last year's fair which I got my monitor, and a DVD writer, I went to this year's show with nothing on my shopping-list. However, that didn't mean I didn't have a want-to-buy list. This included my personally longly-anticipated SE P990i.

Nice right? Had a hands-on with it, pretty neat, but the price is near as well. $1288. =/ Ok lah next april after my current 2 year plan is up, this shall be on the shopping list.

Other than that, I also feasted my eyes on two shortlisted 'want-to-get' cameras.

Canon IXUS 800IS:

and Pansonic LX-1:

Again, both solid, top-end Point&Shoot cameras that comes at a sub 800 bucks pricing. Really tempting. Especially LX-1, a good camera that has been out for a year already, its really quite the time to get it. I'll just wait that little while more. Can't re...sist....

Seriously, I don't know if its the venue, or the crowd, or the timing. Comex looks bigger, but there's less people. Maybe its not sunday yet, haha, I might just go there again on the last day to try and see if there's still the sardine-effect or not. Hahaha.

After hanging around for a good 1+ hour, we decided to go to Changi Airport and look for the Popeye's Chicken, which I had really wanted to try. In case you don't know what Popeye's Chicken is, its basically a direct rival of KFC, and its pretty decent I must say.

Located at the 3rd level of T2, the only outlet in Singapore makes it like elusive, unlike its abundance in US. It leaves a pretty good first impression I must admit. I ordered a 2 piece spicy chicken meal, with an upsize of an extra side, more fries and a larger drink, totalled to $7.45. Around the same as KFC.

What you get is something like what you see on the right, just one less piece of chicken and one drink.

Ok, a breakdown of the whole meal, starting with the chicken.

Chicken: The spiciness was awful. Seriously KFC trashes it hands down. It didn't taste spicy at all, I don't know if they got the order wrong, but the skin smelt pretty much burnt/chaota, no fragance. However, the meat was juicy and hot, feasting on the meat but not the skin was very much enjoyable. Anyway, I never really like fried chicken skin, since they are mostly coated with flour or spices, only serve to make you fuller faster. Having said that, I still eat KFC original chicken with its skin since its trademark taste is undeniably decent. √√1/2

Fries: Hmm, cajun battered fries. Tasted very good when hot, similar to LJS fries, but more fragrant and potatoier. However, as it got cold, quality drops. Ok to be fair, most fries are like that after they turn cold. For people who like moist, soggy fries like McDonalds fries left in the cold, you will not enjoy Popeye's fries. Leave the fries for the last, unless you are super hungry and super sure you will be able to finish everything. Chances are you will leave the fries half-filled after finishing everything else, like I did. =\ √√√

Coleslaw: Pretty much like KFC's. Crunchy and sweet, but it has a slight tinge of sourness, which I strongly believe is pickles. Its actually very nice, since I like pickles quite alot. However, its fatal downside is that it wasn't refrigrated! It was a little warm like at room temp! Horror, but still edible lah. It will definitely taste better cold. But KFC coleslaw wins if Popeyes actually serve their coleslaw like that. √√√1/2

Whipped Potato: My favourite side in fast food, and I am glad to say their whipped potato rocks!! Nice, hot, and most importantly it is spicy!! Not very spicy, but the very fact that it lingers of nice curry flavour and some crunchy onions, shallots make it very very very appetising! If you guys wanna truly enjoy your meal, start with this side and you can't go wrong! Haha. √√√√√

Buttermilk Biscuit: Supposedly the signature item in Popeye's. I initially mistaken this piece of food for bread, like the cheapo 30ct bread that KFC sells along with its meals to go with whipped potato. But this buttermilk biscuit is quite good! Its crispy on the outside, soft and sweet on the inside. Eaten together with the very nice Beerenberg Strawberry Jam that comes with the meal, this biscuit is an subtle, adequate additional to an otherwise 'KFC-clone' meal. √√√√

Overall, the meal was not much different from a standard KFC 2 piece meal, and given the fact that I also had a KFC 2 piece meal for breakfast at Lot1 before going back to school, if somebody blindfolded me and ask me to taste a piece of Popeye's and KFC, I wouldn't have been able to figure any significant difference. I suppose a decent meal would be a cross of KFC's chicken, and Popeye's side dishes. Given its elusive only-outlet-in-Singapore status, coupled with a very short serving time and very comfortable ambience, Popeye's Chicken is a refreshing change from the typical, readily available KFC that everyone of us has kinda grown sick of. Granted that if you have the time to burn, and the willingness to really go the extra mile to try (from clementi to changi, how many miles isit exactly?), its really quite worth it. Basically I only had a KFC 2 piece for breakfast, and a Popeye's 2 piece at around 4, and that's more than enough to keep me filled for the day. Well of course this cannot be done on a daily basis, if not I'll probably die from fat-clotted blood vessels.

After the meal, still had some time to walk around, and we took a walk from T2 back to T1, where the mrt station was, instead of the skytrain when we arrived at the airport. And guess what we spotted?

A Rolls Royce Phantom lah! Wth, its a looooong car, with a bonnet the length of 3 or 4 Kias, as you can see from the green car beside. Head-turners don't come bigger and more luxurious than this piece of, I reckon, car that is worth more than 3 4-room flats? The ultimate dream car seriously.
