The day I turned my back on a point & shoot

In life, there are certain things that you always put on hold to, or simply because you were resistant to change, never wanting to move from an old equilibrium to a new one. It is very appropriate to say that one such instance that I relate to is the delaying of switching over to DSLR cameras from the normal consumer point & shoot.

I had previously been using a Canon Ixus 800, and it occurred to me that such a camera would be good enough to last me for a long long time. While it was good enough for the good part of 2 years, I came to realise it fell short of expectations while I was in Europe. I am not blaming the camera, but my lack of foresight to upgrade earlier.

Indeed, yesterday I became a new owner of a Canon 500D, which by no means is a heavyweight, powerpacked DSLR. But it offered me a glimpse of the magical world of awesome, never-seen-before photos. Suddenly, all the previous photos I have taken pale in comparsion. Here are just some of the many photos I took over the span on 30 minutes.

Well I know my photos might make you think twice about whether it was indeed taken with a DSLR, but it is a case of new user still not being too good with his camera.

Yes this drawing was the disc cover for street fighter zero 3 back on the Sega Saturn. The legendary game which I wanted so badly when I was still 14 years old. May there be better and greater street fighter years to come!
