Had it not been the need to wake up early to collect my passport, this morning would have been so perfect to just sleep in till after lunch! The queue at the ICA building is unbelievably long, even if it was just queuing up to collect already-made passports!
Since I was in Lavender, and the thought of being in human-sardine packed trains all the way till Clementi was a huge turn-off, I got off the train at Bugis to walk around in Sim Lim. That is one perfect place to do some window shopping.
In fact I haven't been doing much today, other than having a awfully awesome 3 hour afternoon nap. You know, the feeling of guiltless sleeping, waking up feeling hungry and just waiting for dinner?
But no, my maid had not known what I was going to do with the whole chicken I bought while at the market with my mom last week. Now you might be thinking if that chicken is still edible. Of course it is, thanks to the almighty freezer which has kept the chicken fairly fresh.
And yes, nothing beats cooking your own comfort food to be enjoyed in the comforts of your own home. 2 dishes. so simple, yet brings the satisfaction that can't be found in any hawker centres or restaurants.

And then no more than 3 hours later, my mom came home and decided we should all have supper together. Shortly after, she emerges from the kitchen with 2 huge plates of Hor Fun and Bee Hoon (hor fun style) and my favourite steamed fish.
The thing with this fish.... once you start, you cannot stop!
Simple pleasures, simply fantastic. I shall try to do some work now.
