Dinnertime!

Our very good friend King Hei has returned from HongKong to stay and work for a good period of time. Its really fast considering how we were still lamenting his departure to do a degree in engineering back in HK during World Cup '06. In the void of his absence (other than visiting him in HK last year), Mr Choong, Mr Lo and I would always say things like 'For King', or 'Too bad King isn't around to enjoy such a wonderful dish'. This is one fine instance of where his absence was felt.

This was sometime in 2006 if I remembered correctly.

Well, since he is back, and we had not have dinners at my place for quite a while already, I decided that we would have one yesterday.

My latest acquisition in home-cooking tools. A barbecue rack for me to do my preferred bbq seafood, satay and otahs. It has finally seen some action after being bought from Malaysia earlier last month.

During my short 1 week stay in Hongkong, the roast pork has impacted me greatly that I came back to try my own 'siew yuk'. I am proud to say that GRP(GH's Roast Pork)v1.5 has been a success. More twigs and fixes to be made in subsequent patches, such as more spices and longer roast times.

The raw pork belly that is actually quite lean. All the talk about fatty meats are silenced when you get to work with a piece as such.

The same piece of pork sitting in the oven. It looks good enough for some kind of Burger King or food advertisement! "Fresh off the grill!" or "You want a piece of me?" comes to mind. Muahahahahaha.

Some other ingredients for the meal. The full course included braised duck, my new experiments in bbq stingray, prawn and squid (BBQ seafood platter I'd call it), and not forgetting my rendition of curry chicken where spiciness is key!

Not forgetting a good picture before we started our dinner.

Its great to see and reflect how we have changed (even if its just a bit over the last few years). The great company and talk-cock sessions looks like they'd be here to stay!

In other news, Spain has been crowned Euro '08 champions, courtesy of a first half goal by Liverpool forward Fernando Torres. A boring match with Germany being outplayed and the lack of goals made me feel like I wasted my time (and precious sleep!) getting up at 3am to watch it. Almost died this morning, trying to roll off my bed into the toilet to wash up. Zombified is a great word to use to describe how I felt in school throughout the day. Well I can only be thankful that there will be no more matches to tempt me, and risk getting the lousy mornings I had been getting when I stayed up. Monday blues + Lack of sleep + Doing nothing constructive has its adverse effects felt in full glory today.

Okay, I shall not entertain the thought of sleeping 3 hours for another night. Going to bed now and it looks like it will be a busier day tomorrow. Suddenly, I find having something to do a smaller evil than having nothing to do at all. The screwed mentality of a sleep-deprived being. Speaking of which, I find this song very apt for how I feel today. Shall end it with an extract of it, and no this is not being emo. I've got much more things in life to look forward to than get emo, like how its the 'in' thing for students to indulge in. =/

Stop and stare
I think I'm moving but I go nowhere
Yeah I know that everyone gets scared
But I've become what I can't be, oh
Stop and stare
You start to wonder why you're 'here' not there
And you'd give anything to get what's fair
But fair ain't what you really need
Oh, can u see what I see
